MetroVac - Blowers - Vacuums
MetroVac
MetroVac is a family-owned business that has been operating in the United States since 1939. It was established by Israel and Pearl Stern with $50 provided by Israel's father, who pawned his beloved pocket watch to help them pursue their American dream. Israel was a successful vacuum cleaner salesman, but he wanted to venture out on his own.
In 1951 things began to change when Jules Stern (son of Israel and Pearl) joined the business full-time and helped to introduce unique industry innovations. In 1957 the first 110-volt handheld vacuum cleaner was brought to market by Metro Vac. In 1964, they introduced the first 12-volt automotive handheld vacuum cleaner that plugged into the cigarette lighter port in cars. Around this time, Metropolitan Vacuum officially became "MetroVac."
Initially, the business focused solely on distributing and retailing vacuum cleaners. by 1946, the main core of their business had become the reconditioning and sale of vacuum cleaners to retail specialty stores, Five & Dimes, and mail-order houses.
From 1971 to 2000, MetroVac continued to introduce new models and expand into various industries. They launched their DataVac Computer Cleaning Systems and even created a dedicated division for developing pet grooming products that are now distributed worldwide!
The early 2000's brought continuous growth especially for the DataVac division as computers became more widely available to consumers. A Magic Air division of high volume pumps and inflators/deflators was brought on to serve marine, camping, and sporting goods industries.
In 2008, Metro Vac entered the automotive industry with a full line of vacuum cleaners and car dryers ranging from handheld units to wall mounted garage units. In 2013 they moved from a 32,000 sqft facility to a 60,000 sqft location to accommodate the demand. They continue to be a leading brand with continuous innovations for the auto detailing industry
