Dr. ColorChip System
-
The Dr. ColorChip System is a professional paint chip repair kit built for detailers, body shop techs, and dealer reconditioning operations who want to remove rock chips, scratches, and “road rash” on-site and at a lower cost compared to sending vehicles out for repainting. Each paint is specially formulated, making it possible for you to yield professional results and a OEM match, and the system is positioned to help you start (or add) a paint chip reconditioning service to your business.
Highlight specs:
- OEM-quality touch-up paint specially formulated for easy color matching
- Three-step on-site method: prep the area, fill the chip with paint, then wipe off the excess
- Repair time measured in minutes rather than the hours a hood repaint takes
- SealAct Blending Solution included (SDS available on the live page)
- Two kit sizes available: 80 Colors and 130 Colors (see the Kit Comparison Chart)
- Drop-ship item shipped flat-rate at $95 (actual charge adjusted if more or less)
Who this is for
- Detailers adding paint reconditioning to their service menu alongside polishing and ceramic work
- Mobile detailers offering on-site chip repair for dealerships, fleet accounts, and trade-in vehicles
- Body shops handling minor chip and scratch work without tying up a paint booth
- Used-car dealers reconditioning inventory in-house instead of sending vehicles out for hood repaints
- Fleet operators keeping high-mileage vehicles looking presentable between full repaint cycles
Why detailers and dealers run paint chip repair as a service
A hood repaint runs $250 to $500 or more and takes the vehicle off the lot or out of service while the work is done. The Dr. ColorChip System turns the same job into an on-site repair measured in minutes per chip, which is why it shows up on dealer recon checklists and detailer service menus. For a multi-chip vehicle, the time-on-the-lot savings alone often justify the system before you count the labor margin on the repair itself.
For shops building a paint chip reconditioning service from scratch, the system also gives you the OEM-match color library you need to handle vehicles that roll in from any factory paint code, which is what separates a real repair offering from a tube of generic touch-up paint.
Variants Available
80 Colors Standard kit for shops covering the common domestic and import OEM color set 130 Colors Expanded kit for high-volume recon operations or shops handling a wider range of factory colors Repair Process Overview
- Clean the chip area thoroughly so the touch-up paint bonds to a contaminant-free surface
- Apply the OEM-matched paint into the chip itself, filling the crater
- Wipe the excess off the surrounding panel using the SealAct Blending Solution so the repair sits flush with the existing finish
- Inspect at normal viewing distance: the panel should look as if it has just been waxed

Yes. The Dr. ColorChip System is a three-step on-site method built to be done by hand: prep the area, fill the chip with paint, then wipe the excess off with the SealAct Blending Solution. No paint booth or spray gun is needed, and each chip takes minutes. At normal viewing distances the panel has consistent color.

Chip repair replaces a full hood repaint, which is costly and pulls the vehicle off the lot for days. With Dr. ColorChip you repair on-site in minutes per chip, so the savings are labor and a lot of time. That is why detailers and dealers run it as a paid service.

The 80-color kit covers the common domestic and import OEM colors and suits most detailers and dealer recon work. The 130-color kit expands the library for high-volume shops handling a wider range of factory paint codes. The official Kit Comparison Chart lists what each kit includes.

Yes. The system handles rock-chip "road rash" and minor scratches anywhere on factory paint, including bumpers, rocker panels, fenders, and door edges. Because this is a match-by-eye system, it works across any factory paint code. The manufacturer's Bumper Demonstration video shows the method applied beyond hood-only chips.
