Rupes LHR21 Mark V COMPLETE KIT
-
The Rupes LHR21 Mark V Big Foot Random Orbital Polisher Complete Kit is the fourth-generation BigFoot large-throw polisher packaged with the compounds, pads, and accessories you need to start correcting paint out of the box. It is built around performance, comfort, and safety: quieter, lighter, and better balanced than the Mark III it replaces, and bundled as one complete kit so you are not sourcing backing plates, compounds, and pads separately.
Highlight specs:
- 6”/150mm backing plate (standard, balanced for the tool)
- 47% quieter than the Mark III generation
- 10% lighter than the Mark III
- POLYSYNTHEC gear system for smoother, lower-vibration operation
- Anti-spinning ring and lower center of gravity for control and stability
- 5-year extended warranty (register within 30 days of purchase)
- Ships as a complete kit (polisher, compounds, foam and wool pads, accessories, carrying bag)
A large-throw machine like the LHR21 uses a wider orbit than a compact polisher, which means it removes defects and covers ground faster on big flat panels (hoods, roofs, doors, quarter panels), so a full correction takes fewer passes. The trade-off is bulk in tight areas, which is where a smaller polisher earns its place.
The Mark V refinements are about doing that work for hours without punishing your hands. The POLYSYNTHEC gear system and lighter eccentric set cut vibration and noise (47% quieter than the Mark III), the lower center of gravity and improved ventilation keep the tool stable and cool through long sessions, and the anti-spinning ring stops the pad from spinning up uncontrolled when you lift off the panel. The one-block plastic head cover protects the internals against the knocks a shop tool takes, and the PrecisionPro backing pads add rubber edges for stability and safety near trim and edges.
Because this is the complete kit, the correction system is matched from the factory: coarse and fine DA compounds, an all-in-one polish and sealant, foam and wool pads graded from coarse to fine, plus the microfiber cloths, claw pad tool, cable clamp, detailing apron, and a semi-rigid BigFoot carrying bag to move and store it all. Rupes balances this tool specifically for its 6”/150mm backing plate and the pads designed around it, so the kit is engineered to work as one system rather than a box of mixed parts.
Who this is for
- Paint-correction detailers who want a large-throw random orbital that covers big panels fast and is far more forgiving than a rotary
- High-volume shops that need a quiet, low-vibration polisher techs can run for full days without fatigue
- Serious enthusiasts stepping into professional-grade correction who want the compounds and pads matched to the machine from day one
- Rupes ecosystem buyers who want the polisher, pads, compounds, and carrying bag in a single complete kit instead of sourcing each piece separately
Rupes LHR21 vs Flex PXE 80 vs Gem orbital vs DeWalt rotary: which polisher fits
Rupes LHR21 Mark V (this kit). Large-throw random-orbital, far more forgiving than a rotary. Best for: swirl and defect correction across large flat panels, full-day professional use, and buyers who want a complete matched system. It is the wide-orbit tool that clears a hood or roof in fewer passes.
Flex PXE 80. Compact, lightweight polisher for tight spots, edges, pillars, and contoured panels the large-throw LHR21 cannot reach comfortably. Many shops run the LHR21 for open panels and the PXE 80 for detail work.
Gem orbital. Heavy 15 lb orbital built for wax and sealant application, gel coat, and marine surfaces. Best when application speed and mass matter more than fine defect correction.
DeWalt DWP849X rotary. Direct spindle rotation for heavy oxidation and deep-scratch cutting. Fast and aggressive, but it generates the pad heat that burns clear coat in inexperienced hands. Run it alongside the LHR21 (rotary to cut, random-orbital to refine and finish), not as a first polisher.

- Quieter by design. A 47% noise reduction over the Mark III makes this one of the quietest polishers on the market.
- Lighter on the arms. The Mark V weighs 10% less than the Mark III with no loss of power, and the lighter eccentric set eases wrist strain on curved and flat panels alike.
- POLYSYNTHEC gear system. The upgraded gears run smoother with less noise and vibration, which is what keeps fatigue down through a long correction session.
- Protected internals. A one-block plastic head cover shields the components that matter, and the improved ventilation system keeps the tool cool through extended use.
- Control and stability. The anti-spinning ring stops uncontrolled pad rotation, and a lower center of gravity makes intricate areas easier to navigate.
- PrecisionPro backing pads. Rubber-edged for extra stability and safety.
- Five-year extended warranty with registration.

It comes standard with a 6"/150mm backing plate, and Rupes does not recommend changing to other sizes. The tool is balanced specifically for that plate and the pads designed around it, so a different size compromises performance and long-term durability of the tool's components.
-
Use pads with a roughly 6" Velcro backing. The face can vary by pad type, but the back should be about 6". Rupes foam pads run 7"/180mm on the face and 6"/150mm on the back; wool pads are 6.75"/170mm face, 6"/150mm back; microfiber pads are 6.3"/160mm face and back.

The Mark III is Rupes' third generation and the Mark V is the fourth. The Mark V is 47% quieter, adds a refined balancing system for smoother operation, includes several ergonomic upgrades for comfort, and uses a lighter eccentric set. It is the current, more refined version of the same proven BigFoot platform.

Yes, if you correct paint on large panels. A large orbit removes defects and covers ground faster than a compact polisher, so hoods, roofs, and doors take fewer passes. For tight spots and contours, pair it with a smaller machine like the Flex PXE 80.

Yes. Random-orbital motion spreads friction instead of concentrating it at one point, which makes it far more forgiving to learn on than a rotary. This complete kit also removes the guesswork: the compounds and foam and wool pads are matched to the machine, so you start with a working correction system.
