Bug Remover

• Description

The Bug Remover Automotive Cleaner is an enzyme-based exterior cleaner that breaks down bug splatter on automotive paint, glass, chrome, grilles, and headlights with a 20 to 30 second dwell, sized from pint up to 5 gallon for everything from a single road-trip wipedown to a high-volume wash bay.

  What’s in the bottle:

  • Enzyme-based formula (breaks down the protein in bug remains)
  • 20 to 30 second dwell time before wiping
  • Safe on grills, hoods, windshields, headlights, paint, glass, chrome
  • Blueberry scent, biodegradable
  • Pint, Quart, 1 Gallon, 5 Gallon sizes available
  • Do not apply in direct sunlight, on hot surfaces, or allow to dry

What “enzymatic bug removal” means: Bug splatter is not just dirt. It is a slurry of insect proteins that bonds to the vehicle as soon as it lands on a hot panel. Bug guts are acidic, and the longer they sit, the deeper they etch into the plastic, glass, or clear coat (and eventually the base coat). A general-purpose soap or water-only scrub lifts the surface mess but leaves the protein layer behind, which is why a “clean” hood can still show ghosted yellow spots where the splatter was. An enzyme-based cleaner like Bug Remover breaks down the protein so it lifts off instead of dragging across the clear coat. The 20 to 30 second dwell time is how long the enzymes need. For bugs baked on for weeks, plan on a longer dwell and a follow-up paint correction step if etching has already started.

  Who this is for

  • Mobile detailers running maintenance washes on commuter and lease-return vehicles
  • Lot porters and dealership detail bays prepping front-end-heavy trade-ins through summer
  • Fleet wash operators cleaning delivery vans, sales-rep cars, and over-the-road trucks
  • Road-trip enthusiasts and weekend washers who need front-end splatter off without scrubbing the clear coat raw

When Bug Remover is the right call (and when it isn’t)

  • Yes, use Bug Remover: fresh-to-a-few-day-old splatter on grilles, hoods, windshields, mirrors, front bumpers, headlights, and front fenders
  • Yes, but pair with a heavier cleaner: front-end coated in weeks-old splatter plus road film and brake dust (start with an alkaline pre-wash like Koch-Chemie Green Star, then spot-treat with Bug Remover)
  • No, you’ve passed the cleaner stage: the protein is gone but ghosted etching remains in the clear coat. That is a paint correction job (clay bar, compound, polish), not a cleaner job. The clear coat has been chemically attacked and needs to be mechanically leveled.

• Features & Details
  • Dissolve bug remains with ease.  Don’t waste your time scrubbing with soap and water until your arm is sore, just spray a dose of the Bug Remover Automotive Cleaner and let it work its magic!
  • A must-own for those hot summer months.  While most people look forward to the beginning of the warm seasons, it does have its drawbacks.  As bugs swarm the air, they inevitably get squashed on the front of your vehicle.  Keep your car looking clean and sleek, regardless of where bugs choose to fly into.
  • Powerful, yet quick-acting.  Just let the Bug Remover Automotive Cleaner set on the soiled area for about 20 to 30 seconds before wiping down.  This product eliminates the need for multiple steps, saving you time and effort.
  • Smells great and is biodegradable.  We’ll be honest: it doesn’t take much to smell better than a bunch of bug guts.  Nevertheless, the blueberry scent of the Bug Remover Automotive Cleaner is refreshing and complimentary to hot summer months.
  • Safe to use on all exterior surfaces.  Whether bugs get on your grill, hood, windshield, or headlights, the Bug Remover Automotive Cleaner has you covered.  You can effectively use on painted surfaces without worrying about damaging the paint.
• For Best Results

Rinse the desired area of your vehicle before applying the Bug Remover Automotive Cleaner.

Spray Bug Remover onto the panel or bug sponge. For surfaces such as plastic grills or mirrors, it's safer to spray Bug Remover onto a scrubber or sponge. Plastic can stain easier and quicker than glass or paint. The Rag Company Jersey Bug Scrubber has a microfiber side and a mesh side for scrubbing - use the mesh side for more aggressive scrubbing, and the microfiber side for less aggressive scrubbing, to minimize the chance of micro-marring. Rinse off when done and sleep well knowing you won this round in the battle against the flying insects.

Important application notes: Do NOT spray in direct sunlight or on a hot surface, and do NOT let the product dry on the surface to avoid staining.
