Koch-Chemie Green Star
-
Koch-Chemie Green Star is a highly concentrated, phosphate- and solvent-free, alkaline universal cleaner. Universally usable for the areas of workshop floor and industrial cleaning, interior and exterior cleaning of cars and trucks and engine bay cleaning thanks to its enormous dirt and oil carrying capacity. Special corrosion inhibitors ensure high material compatibility with regard to sensitive components such as anodized aluminum. For use in spray extraction and other carpet cleaning devices we recommend our Detail King Extractor Defoamer.
What’s in the bottle:
- Alkaline universal cleaner concentrate
- 1L and 5L sizes available
- Phosphate-free and solvent-free formula
- Safe on anodized aluminum thanks to built-in corrosion inhibitors
- 1:5 to 1:120 dilution range (heavy degreasing to floor maintenance)
- Lifts dirt, road film, oil, brake dust, engine bay grime, and shop floor build-up
Use cases: engine bay degreasing, wheel barrel cleaning, tire dressing prep, exterior plastic trim cleaning before dressing, bug and road film removal, shop floor scrub-down. Alkaline chemistry is the right tool for those jobs and the wrong tool for finished leather, Alcantara, or factory waterproofing, where it strips the protective finish. A 1L bottle yields 6 to 121 liters of working solution depending on the ratio. For leather and Alcantara interiors, reach for the neutral Koch-Chemie Pol Star; for gum, ink, or asphalt stains, reach for the Koch-Chemie Eulex solvent.

Use Case Dilution Notes Engine bay degreasing 1:5 to 1:10 Cover sensitive electronics; rinse with low-pressure water Wheel barrels (light brake dust) 1:10 Pre-rinse first; agitate with a wheel brush Tire dressing prep 1:10 to 1:20 Strips old dressing and road film so new dressing bonds Exterior plastic trim cleaning 1:20 Always dress after; never leave Green Star on trim dry Bug and road film on paint 1:20 to 1:30 Use as a pre-soak before contact wash Vehicle interiors and textiles (carpet, mats) 1:10 to 1:20 Damp cloth or wet/dry vacuum wipe-up; avoid leather and Alcantara Workshop floors and industrial 1:40 to 1:120 Mop, scrub, or auto-scrubber depending on soil load General rule: start dilute and go more concentrated only if the job needs it. Always rinse or wipe Green Star off the surface; never let an alkaline cleaner dry on paint, trim, or aluminum. Test on an inconspicuous area when you’re unsure of the substrate.

Dilute to the job, give it a short dwell, and rinse or wipe clean:
- Exteriors and engines (1:5 to 1:30): coat the whole surface, let it work briefly, then rinse thoroughly with a high-pressure cleaner.
- Interiors and textiles (1:10 to 1:20): lift product residue with a damp cloth or a wet/dry vacuum.
- Workshop and industrial floors (1:40 to 1:120).

Yes, for the right surfaces. Green Star is an alkaline APC built for engine bays, wheels, tires, plastic trim, exteriors, and shop floors. Dilute it, don't let it dry on the surface, and always rinse or wipe it off. Avoid finished leather, Alcantara, and routine paint washes, where a neutral cleaner is safer.
-
Match dilution to soil load and surface sensitivity. Engine bays and heavy degreasing take 1:5 to 1:10 for grease-cutting strength. General exterior and tire prep run around 1:20. Anything on paint, trim, or coatings should stay diluted at 1:20 to 1:30. For shop floors, most dilute, 1:40 to 1:120.
-
Use it diluted at 1:20 or weaker on ceramic-coated paint and rinse thoroughly. Don't let it dwell or dry on the coating, and skip it for routine washes where a pH-neutral shampoo belongs. On coated wheels at 1:10, it handles periodic brake dust fine as long as you rinse fully before it dries.
-
No. Green Star is alkaline and strips the factory finish on leather and the protective finish on Alcantara, causing premature wear and a dry, brittle surface over time. Use the neutral Koch-Chemie Pol Star for those. Green Star suits textile carpet and floor mats at 1:10 to 1:20, not finished seating.
-
No. Don't mix Green Star with acids (wheel cleaners, iron removers) or bleach-based products. Alkaline-plus-acid neutralizes both at best, and creates fumes or violent reactions at worst. For multi-step decon, run Green Star first on oily and organic soil, rinse fully, then move to your iron remover or acid wheel cleaner.
