  Detail King’s Black Carpet Dye is a spray-on dye concentrate that rejuvenates faded and weathered black automotive carpets and floor mats, restoring the original deep black color without changing the carpet’s underlying hue. After cleaning and extracting the carpet, you spray the diluted dye and brush it into the fibers so the carpet regains a rich, brand-new look.

  How the dye behaves in the fibers

  This dye deepens black carpet back to its factory color rather than laying a new color over it, so a faded floor comes back rich without reading as painted or patchy. The concentrate is tunable: mix it with less water than the standard ratio when you want a darker, more saturated result on badly sun-bleached fiber. Because it goes on through a spray bottle, you can also target just the sun-hit section under a window or a worn heel patch instead of redoing the whole floor. Fresh black carpet is one of the fastest ways to change how a whole interior looks to the next person who sits in it.

  • Restore color without changing it.  This carpet dye WILL NOT change the color of your carpet, only restore its original color.
  • Dilute dye with water to create an abundance of product.  One 8 ounce bottle of Carpet Dye can be diluted with 24 ounces of water.  That’s a lot of product to work with!  Dilute with smaller amounts of water to create a darker dye.
  • Great for spot dyeing.  Sometimes just a specific part of your carpet needs to be restored.  The Carpet Dye is applied via spray, meaning you can focus on just one or two areas.

• For Best Results
  1. Choose a dye that is a shade darker than your carpet's color. Pour an 8-ounce bottle of dye in a 32-ounce plastic bottle sprayer, filling the rest of the bottle with water. Shake well.
  2. Before dyeing carpet, clean and shampoo. Use our Hot Shot Stain & Spot Lifter aerosol spray to pre-treat severe stains. Scrub the spray into the carpet with a Mat and Carpet Brush.
  3. Spray and brush our Extractor Soap into the carpet using the same method as the Hot Shot Plus. If desired, use the Extractor Soap with an extractor for deep cleaning. Allow the carpet to dry.   4. Make sure to wear gloves. Spray the surface with dye mix and work into the carpet with a Mat and Carpet Brush. Repeat as necessary until the color is restored.

  Heat tip: For the most permanent results, heat water to 150 degrees and then mix with the dye concentrate. Apply immediately while the dye mixture is as hot as possible for best adhesion and the most permanent results. You can reheat leftover dye to the recommended 150 degrees for future applications.
